Coach Daniel Cano

Black Belt Instructor at Saiko Fitness and Martial Arts

I was raised in San Mateo, California. My journey into martial arts started when I was 16 with boxing, and around the same time, I began dabbling in Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling. I wrestled in high school my senior year, and continued some practice at Skyline College. But it wasn’t until I was 22 that I truly committed to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I’ve been training ever since at Charles Gracie San Mateo Academy, where I earned my black belt 10 years later.

In addition to my time on the mats, I also studied psychology-earning my Associate of Arts from the College of San Mateo and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Cal State East Bay. Now as a coach at Saiko Fitness and Martial Arts, I draw on both my martial arts experience and academic background to help students grow physically, mentally, and emotionally. My goal is to help others build confidence, develop

discipline, and thrive both on and off the mat.
